GMAT Test Preparation
Overview:
The Graduate Management Admission Test (GMAT) is a globally recognized, standardized exam used for admission to graduate business and management programs, particularly MBA courses. Administered by the Graduate Management Admission Council (GMAC), the GMAT assesses critical thinking, quantitative reasoning, data interpretation, and verbal ability—skills essential for success in business school. It is accepted by over 7,000 programs at more than 2,300 institutions worldwide. (GMAC, Wikipedia)
Test Structure:
As of 2025, the GMAT Focus Edition is the current version of the exam and consists of three main sections:
- Quantitative Reasoning (45 minutes):
o Assesses problem-solving and analytical skills using basic arithmetic, algebra, and data analysis. Calculators are not permitted. (GMAC) - Verbal Reasoning (45 minutes):
o Evaluates reading comprehension, critical reasoning, and sentence structure analysis. (Wikipedia) - Data Insights (45 minutes):
o Tests the ability to interpret and analyze data from multiple formats including tables, charts, and graphs, integrating both quantitative and verbal reasoning. A calculator is available for this section. (GMAC)
The total testing time is approximately 2 hours and 15 minutes, not including optional breaks. The GMAT is computer-adaptive at the section level, meaning each section adjusts in difficulty based on the test-taker’s performance. (GMAC)
Scoring:
• Total Score: Ranges from 205 to 805, in 10-point increments.
• Each Section: Reported separately with individual scaled scores.
• There is no longer a separate Analytical Writing Assessment (AWA) or Integrated Reasoning (IR) section in the Focus Edition. (GMAC, The Princeton Review)

• Ability to review and revise answers within a section.
• Select Section Order allows test-takers to choose the sequence of sections.
• On-screen calculator for the Data Insights section.
• Enhanced score reporting tools to help candidates understand strengths and weaknesses. (GMAC)
